Life is like this....

Life is like this….

v  If your exam is tomorrow, there will be a power cut tonight.

v  Irrespective of the direction of the wind, the smoke from the cigarette will always tend to go to the non smoker.

v  When you are right nobody remembers. When you are wrong nobody forgets.

v  After a long wait for bus number 33, two 33 number buses arrive at the same time. The one you get into will always be more crowded than the other.

v  When standing in a “Q”, the person in front of you will have the most complicated transactions consuming lot of time.

v  You can never determine which side of the bread to butter. If it falls down, it will always land on the buttered side.

v  Anything dropped on the floor will roll over to the most inaccessible corner.

v  More than 50% of all statistics are made on the spot.

v  You pick up maximum wrong numbers while on roaming.

v  The door bell will always ring when you are in the bathroom.

v  If you come early the bus is late. If you are late the bus is still late.

v  As soon as you mention something bad, it happens.

A woman....

A woman…..

A woman has strengths that amaze men. She can handle any trouble and carry heavy burdens. She holds happiness and love. She smiles when she feels like screaming. She sings when she feels like crying, cries when she is happy and laughs when she is afraid. Her love is unconditional. There’s only one thing wrong with her……..she sometimes forgets what she is worth !!!

3 ways to catch a tiger….

3 ways to catch a tiger….

1)    Newtons Law : Allow the tiger to catch you , then you catch it.

2)    Einstein’s Law : Chase the tiger until it becomes tired and then you catch it.

3)    INDIAN POLICE LAW : Catch a cat and beat it until it accepts it’s a tiger.

First T20 – Captain responsible for loss…

First T20 – Captain responsible for loss…

India lost the 1st T20 match against Pakistan and the entire blame must go to the captain who performed once again miserably on both aspects- as captain and in team selection.

After a good start by the openers, Indian batting collapsed once again ,not to good bowling but poor batting. Being 77 for no loss and ending with 133, you cannot afford to win matches at this level.
Do not understand the selection of Ravindra Jadeja… coming at No8…was he taken as a batsman. If he was selected as a bowler…why was Kohli being chosen to bowl when Pakistan were struggling. His selection defies logic…. Ashwin was made to sit….why ??? just because he had one bad match ??? Jadeja is having a poor run for too long. When Sachin failed in a few matches, Gavaskar mentioned that he must discuss his future with selectors, then why are we persisting with non performers for too long. Also, giving the last over to Jadeja was poor captaincy….do not understand why Dhoni has got so much liking towards jadeja ( maybe because both are from CSK)…

In the last 2 matches the captains have won the matches for their teams… Morgan and yesterday Hafeez… do not recollect when Dhoni won the match for India.

If the selection of the team is not on the basis of merit, we will continue to lose matches we should have won comfortably…. Time for the board / selection committee to intervene and stop this rut from continuing…..

India - Pakistan T20.

India and Pakistan are crazy about cricket and emotions run high whenever the two sides meet.

"The atmosphere is electric and you wont find another sporting event where people are so charged up. Such is the pressure that the  India-Pakistan match can generate. Even the players of each country feel that extra pressure because any Indo pak game is just more than a game of cricket…..

In the T20 format India has had a upper hand but Pakistan cannot be taken lightly. Its going to be Pakistan’s bowling against the strong Indian batting line up.

Get ready for the excitement today evening……am sure all the streets will be deserted and across india people will be glued to their television sets…..

Enjoy the cricket….

Merry Christmas !!!

Sachin Tendulkar retires from ODIs..

Sachin Tendulkar retires from ODIs..

Considered the most complete batsman in modern cricket, and next only to the legendary Sir Donald Bradman, Tendulkar retires from the ODI format at the top of the run-getters' list.

He goes out after amassing 18,426 runs in 463 one-dayers, at an average of 44.83.

The diminutive right-hander scored an astonishing 49 hundreds in the format, including a double hundred -- the first in this form of the game.

Tendulkar made his ODI debut against Pakistan way back in 1989 and, interestingly, is quitting the scene just ahead of another series against the neighbours.

The entire world will miss the master in the ODIs….

He has entertained fans across the world with his batting.

Indian cricket will be a loser…..

HAVE YOU NOTICED....

Ø  When the other fellow dresses well, he is putting on air; when you do, it is simply a duty you owe to your position.

Ø  When the other person spends his money, he is a spendthrift; when you do you are being generous.

Ø  When the other person is mild in his manners, he is playing politics; when you are, its being gracious.

Ø  When the other person gets tough, he is ill-bred; with you, it is forcefulness.

Ø  When the other fellow says what he thinks, he is spiteful; when you do, you are frank.

Ø  When the other fellow is set in his ways, he is obstinate; when you are, it is firmness.

Ø  When the other fellow does not like your friend, he is prejudiced; when you do not like his friend, you are simply showing that you are a good judge of character.

Ø  When the other fellow treats someone specially well, he is crawling; when you try the same tactics you are using tact.

HAVE YOU EVER NOTICED….???

Reasonable dose of worries is necessary !!!

Persons who are bought up the hard way are successful ones later in life. They develop a resistance to hardship of all sorts.

A child who has been accustomed to thinking everything will be done for him by parents and that pocket money is his birth right will become a ‘softie’. The day he starts earning his livelihood in a large town, he will find he lacks toughness and courage.

A child who is used to walk 4 kilometers every morning whether sun or rain will remember later that his early years had given him the health and tenacity when he grows old. That does not mean children should be treated harshly; it means that they should not be thought that life is a garden full of roses because that is not true.

Yes, there is a limit to difficulties that man can face but a reasonable dose of worries does no harm to anyone. On the contrary, let us not complain if we have a boss who is hard to please, a demanding wife or husband. Small quarrels, if not too frequent are beneficial. They wake us up and compel us to reconsider a situation.

So let us not fear obstacles. Let us face them. For human life is not a garden of roses nor is it a valley of sorrows; it is a sanctuary of work….

Keys to success.

Start your day with a good thought, it leads you to success.

Listen to your conscience; it guides you in the right direction.

Respect your parents and elders, they are your well wishers.

Choose good friends, they will share your problems.

Be active, it helps you to be efficient.

Be disciplined, it speaks of your culture.

Cultivate good habits and hobbies, they give you self confidence.

Be kind and generous, that gives you joy and peace.

Pray GOD, He will take care of you….

Who is great....

Teacher : who is great – teacher or mother.

Student : Teacher

Teacher : why ?

Student : Because the mother puts one child to sleep at one time, whereas             teacher puts 50 children to     sleep at one time.

Signboard in the US.

A signboard signifying recession in front of a restaurant in the US….

“COME IN, OR WE BOTH WILL STARVE “

Light a candle than curse the darkness.

We do not feel tired when we are engaged in an action that is close to our heart. We feel the burden when we act against our wish. Attitude towards action determines the pain or pleasure.

We feel tired when we listen to complaints but get energized when we listen to compliments. We feel happy when we are in deep sleep. All that we know when we are in deep sleep is that we know nothing because we are beyond time and space. Ignorance and happiness co-exists during deep sleep. A child is a personification of ignorance, innocence and happiness. As we grow old we lose these noble qualities.

We have the free will to be happy but we choose to be unhappy. The key to happiness and unhappiness is with us. Some are always happy and some are never happy. The cause for our happiness and unhappiness is our ignorance. We feel that happiness lie in things and people. Happiness is our true nature. We develop the art of being unhappy as we grow old since we move away from that nature.

Seeking happiness outside is the surest source of finding unhappiness. We always curse others for our unhappiness but never thank others for our happiness. We seldom count our blessings but often count our problems.

Cursing the darkness will never brighten the place. If everyone lights a lamp in front of his house, the whole world will be bright. Darkness and light are part and parcel of nature. We have to accept darkness and light a candle to dispel darkness instead of cursing.

Just take a break...

Be aware of your purpose in life...

We all have been through that scary situation of having too much work to do in too little time. Heavy work load and extended hours drive us mad and all employers seem to want to squeeze the maximum out of their employees.

Occupational stress is a silent killer. Rising feeling of guilt, poor concentration, criticism and lack of breaks push an individual to the brink of depression. You can change it and make it a pleasure by adding a little humour into your daily life. It not only helps in reducing stress but also makes you more creative and diffuses tough situations. Exercise will also help in keeping you energetic.  Also, focus on things that are more important and reduce time spent on low priority tasks.

Any type of work can be made more fulfilling if it is done with simplicity and present moment awareness. You don’t have to go to anyone; it’s there within you; you just need to become aware of yourself and your purpose in life. You will be able to work with much more happiness and efficiency if you discover there’s a perspective bigger than your worries.

To avoid burnout take a break and get good sleep. Being regularly short of sleep can affect your concentration, energy levels and efficiency. You will be more prone to making mistakes and will become less proactive. You will be amazed by how sharp and energetic you will feel once your body gets enough rest. Taking up an enjoyable sport or hobby could help reduce stress.

Vacations are also important as it gives an opportunity to take your mind off work. Remember, stress is not a sign of weakness or incompetence; it is simply the body’s reminder that it needs some rest.

Todays world...

We have taller buildings but shorter tempers; wider freeways but narrower viewpoints; we spend more but save less ; we buy more but enjoy less. We have bigger houses but smaller families; more conveniences but less time ; we have more degrees but less common sense ; we have more knowledge but less  judgement ; more medicines but less well being ; we spend too much but laugh too little, drive too fast, get angry too quickly, stay up too late , get up too tired, read too rarely, watch too much TV and pray to little. We have more variety of food but less nutrition.

We have multiplied our possessions but reduced our values ; we talk too much , love too seldom and lie too often. We have learned to make a living but not a life ; we have added years to life but not life to the years.
We have been all the way to the moon and back but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbour ; we have conquered outer space but not inner space.

We have done larger things but not better things ; we have split the atom but not our prejudice ; we write more but learn less ; we plan more but accomplish less.
We have learnt to rush but not to wait ; we have higher incomes but lower morals ; more food but less appetite ; more acquaintances but fewer friends.

We have more information but less communication; we have become large on quantity but short on quality. We have fast foods with slow digestion ; tall men with short character and steep profits and shallow relationships. We talk of world peace but are faced with domestic warfare ;
These are the days of two incomes but more divorces; more fancy houses but broken homes….

These are the times we live in……

Series Lost - let down by bowlers !!!

After 28 years England won a series in India. India lost a home series after 10 years. Indian cricket has stooped to a new low. England deserved to win and full credit to the Englishmen the way they played. India on the other hand have themselves to blame. On home conditions losing to England will not be forgotten soon.

The blame game has started with the captain blaming the batsmen for the loss. How stupid is this. In fact our bowlers failed miserably and on tracks prepared specially to suit our spinners, they failed to take 20 wickets in all the test matches except Ahmedabad. On the other hand, the English spinners did a wonderful job. They were far better than any of our spinners. Indians, who were known to play spin better, struggled against Swan & Panesar.

Even though in the last test match we played with 4 specialist spinners, we were not able to get 20 wickets and win the match. The quality of the spinners we have at present are not at all match winners. They have just performed in patches.
The biggest problem faced by Indian cricket is lack of quality bowlers. We do not have match winners like a Kapil Dev or a Anil Kumble. These 2 cricketers have won India so many matches single handedly. Why are we not able to groom good bowlers ??? Our nation is obsessed with batting. Every one wants to be a batsman. Everyone wants to hit fours and sixes. No one wants to take up bowling seriously. With bowlers getting hit in the shorter version of the game, there is a tilt with the younger generation towards being a batsman. Even in the nets a bowler doesn’t like to be hit. Look at the bowlers face when he is hit .

The biggest step the board has to take is to develop / nurture bowlers and make them match winners. There is no dearth of talent in our country. Unless there is encouragement on this front, india will only produce batsmen and we will never have quality bowlers.

It’s time to act fast , else we will continue the losing streak at home also…..

Over work is injurious to health.

A stressful job coupled with bad lifestyle is a recipe for a host of chronic ailments.

We no longer work to live, we live to work. Even after the computers and office are shut, our minds and blackberries refuse to stop. Call it ambition, insecurity or any other term, the fact remains that overwork is killing us.

The line between work and rest has blurred , courtesy the invasion of mobile phones and laptops. We no longer have the luxury of a nine to six job. We cannot afford to switch off our mobiles. Work has become life. And that is nothing to be proud of. Very few people acknowledge the problem. Staying back after office hours has become a norm. The few who leave on time are work – shirkers, that’s the perception. Being ambitious is good, but its going too far at the cost of your health. People in their 30s and 40s are the major ones suffering from lifestyle ailments and work culture is the common culprit. Irritability, anxiety, depression & alcoholism are signs that the situation is getting out of hand. Without realizing it, we continue the self destructive journey. What is missing is a sense of balance. Work is important but so is rest. If there is a mismatch, stress is inevitable.

A demanding job may leave you with very little time, but it is important to take time out to de-stress. Also , do not take work home and do not work on holidays. Time spent with family and friends goes a long way in de-stressing.

Work is important and can contribute to physical and mental well being, but not if people don’t have the time to look after their own health. Over work doesn’t make you productive, in fact it makes you less productive. Burnout happens fast when people are asked to work in ways that obstructs all other parts of their lives. Maybe it is prudent to enjoy leisure time and ensure that what nourishes us , doesn’t destroy us.

Don’t pay for anything with your health…………its not worth it.

Two days we should not worry.

There are two days in every week , about which we should not worry….

One of these days is yesterday …..where we made all the mistakes, faults & blunders. Yesterday has passed and is not in our control. No money on earth can get back yesterday. You cannot undo a single act done yesterday. You cannot erase a single word said yesterday. Yesterday is gone forever.

The other day we must not worry is tomorrow…..thinking of what is in store. Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control because tomorrow is still to be born.

This leaves us with today…..the present(gift). It is not the experience of today that drives the person mad. It is the remorse or bitterness of something which happened yesterday and the dread of what tomorrow may bring…

Let us therefore , live but one day at a time.

Quote for the day

To be successful, you have to forget the faults of others but remember and correct your own faults...

In reality we do the opposite and remember faults of others and forget our faults....

Control your anger.

Remember the scene in the hindi movie…… rich girl falls in love with a poor boy. The boy meets the girls father. Father shouts and is very angry……..and the inevitable happens…….he suffers a heart attack. We have seen this in many films but it is also an excellent example of what stress coupled with anger can do to you.

These are the days where work and family related pressure is very high and if you do not control your anger you will be inviting trouble for yourself. Add the alphabet “D” to anger and it becomes “DANGER”. That is what you will face if you do not control your anger. Many people have rightly said that anger is a few minutes of madness.

The best way to avoid getting angry is not to react immediately to situations and always be relaxed. The little time you take will help you understand the problem better and provide/ think of better ways to react. If you still cannot come out of the situation try doing something different so that your thoughts are not focused on the problem. Watch tv, read a book or listen to music  to reduce/ forget your anger….

There is a saying that he who angers you, conquers you. If you have conquered anger , then you have won the battle.

Indian cricket- other side.

The revelations of Mohinder Amarnath does not come as a surprise as most of the Indians know that everything with the Indian cricket team and Indian cricket is not heading in the right direction. There has been rifts between players and the captain and also no cordial relations with the selectors and the BCCI. The down slide in the last few years has been the worst and the Indian fan is unable to digest the same. Even when the captain is losing test after test there is no action taken against him. Why ??? just because he is the captain of the CHENNAI SUPER KINGS owned by Srinivasan….

Lust for money and following the quota system in selection has put Indian cricket to shame of late. IPL is the main culprit for our side stooping down to such low levels. There is no talent available to play the longer version of the game and since there is huge money in the shorter version the focus has shifted there. We are able to get only slam bang players without any technique. With  little success, we push them to the longer version where they fail miserably. When will we again to see players like Gavaskar, Vishwanath, laxman, Dravid…. who were known for their technique.

To correct the current situation, the selection must be entrusted to ex cricketers who know the game. Politicians must not run cricket and the track record shows that they ruin cricket...There must be only 3 selectors , to put away the quota system. The decision of the selectors must be final and no one ( as srinivasan has as informed by amaranth) must be allowed to over rule it.

Drastic steps have to be taken immediately to put Indian cricket back on track. If decisions are going to hurt a few people, so be it, in the interest of Indian cricket. At present , the entire international cricketing fraternity must be laughing at the way cricket is managed in india…..

Time to set things right…..

That's Life...

If you tell a person that there are 2 million stars in the sky , he will believe you. But when you say a wall is just painted and the paint is still not dry, the person will surely test it with his fingers and not believe you…… that’s life.

Quote for the day.

"You will save a lot of time on unnecessary conversation if you remember that people are not going to take your advice unless you are a doctor or a lawyer and charge them for it "

The value of time.

Time : every second is precious.

There is a saying that if you lose wealth you can earn it back by hard work. If you lose health you can gain it back through medicines and rest. If you lose knowledge you can regain it by studying again….. but if you lose time , it is gone forever. Hence it is very important to utilize time the best possible way.

We live in a world where distractions are plenty and obviously we tend to lose precious time that can never be retrieved. Also, we have mastered the art of wasting time in many unproductive activities or talks without realizing that time not used is time abused.

All successful people have acknowledged the value of time and employing it well. Everyone has got 24 hours a day and how you use it depends upon you. You use it to your advantage or lose it. Time is free, but is priceless. You can’t own it , but you can use it. You can’t keep it but you can spend it. Once you lose it , you lose it forever.

USE EVERY SECOND, MINUTE, HOUR, DAY…..PRODUCTIVELY.
