Indian Cricket Team’s Real Test – Overseas Tours.

Indian Cricket Team’s Real Test – Overseas Tours.

India has already won both the tests in the ongoing 4 match series against Australia and is on course to win the next 2 matches as well, given the state in which the Australian team is at present.

However, much should not be taken from these wins as the Australian team is very weak compared to the teams which have toured India earlier. Also, the spinner friendly tracks have helped India as many from the Australian side are not familiar to these conditions and are seen struggling here. Though the Indians have played well, the opposition has not been challenging.

The real test for the Indians will be when they tour abroad. Playing in South Africa, England, New Zealand, West Indies & Australia will be the real test for our batting. Remember there will be no Dravid or Laxman to guide India to safety as in the past.

To be a top side in the world, India has to win matches abroad. To be successful on fast and seaming tracks our batsmen must be technically sound which most of them are not. It would be ideal to prepare fast and bouncy tracks in India. We might lose a few test matches initially, but our batsmen will get used to such conditions which are thrown at us when we tour abroad. There will also be no comments that we make pitches to suit only our spinners.

If we continue making spinner friendly pitches, we might be unbeatable in India but, when we tour abroad we will fail miserably.

For the fourth test, give the Aussies a fast and bouncy track. It would be a big test for both the teams. India will have nothing to lose because from here India cannot lose the series.
