Tips for good relations….

To better your relations with others, keep in mind the following points….

·       Speak gently to people. Be skillful in getting your ideas across.

·       Listen attentively and patiently.

·       Smile at people. There is power in a smile. What sunshine is to flowers, a smile is to humanity.

·       Call people by their name. The sweetest music to anyone’s ears is the sound of his / her own name.

·       Be genuinely interested in the other person and his / her problem.

·       Be generous with praise, reserved with flattery, cautious with criticism.

·       Respect others personality and individuality.

·       Be thoughtful of the opinions of others.

·       Be alert to give service. What counts in life is what we do for others. Human relations are caring and sharing.

Missed opportunities…..

Missed opportunities…..

When I got enough confidence, the stage was gone…

When I was sure of losing, I won…

When I needed people the most, they left me…

When I learnt to dry my tears, I found a shoulder to cry….

When I mastered the skill of hating, someone started loving me…

While waiting for light for hours when I fell asleep the sun came out….

That’s LIFE !!! No matter what you plan you never  know what life has planned for you….

Current Indian cricketers lack technique…..

Current Indian cricketers lack technique…..

Call it a craze for the T20  format or any other word…..but the skill of every player is tested in the longer version of the game and most of the current Indian team lack it. In the recent past we had quality players like Dravid, Laxman, Tendulkar…..or in the distant past players like Gavaskar, Vishwanath, Vengsarkar, Mohinder Amarnath….to name a few. It was a pleasure watching these cricketers bat . These players excelled not only in india but also abroad. It was because they had sound technique to adapt to any conditions.

The situation is totally different with the current Indian team. They lack technique. Some of the shots played would make Geffory Boycott hang his head in shame. If the current Indian team tours any country now, the test matches will end in 3-4 days only with india losing very badly. That’s the quality of players we have at present. We are struggling even at home and conditions that suit us.The board / selection panel has to be blamed for the rut we are in today.

Faulty selection and IPL are the causes for the downfall of Indian cricket. Its not there is no talent in the country. We need to give the opportunity to players of merit rather than having the quota system in selection. The team selection needs to be given to former players and no politician must be allowed to govern any cricket board.

Few harsh measures are required to put Indian cricket back on track.

You can consider yourself fortunate if you have watched the copy book style of Geoffory Boycott, the grace of Sunil Gavaskar, the elegance of Dilip Vengsarkar, the stylish David Gower, the square cut of Vishwanath……

Where are those days….

Where are those days….

Here I am sitting in my office at night thinking hard about life…. How it changed from college life to strict professional life.

·        How tiny pocket money changed to big fat monthly pay cheques, but then why it gives less happiness.

·        How  few local jeans changed to new branded wardrobe but there is less time to use them.

·        How a single plate idli changed to a full pizza or how a bike always in reserve changed to a 4 wheeler but then why are there less places to go.

·        How a small tea shop changed to cafĂ© coffee day but then why does it feel that the shop is far away.

·        How a limited prepaid card changed to unlimited post paid connection but then why there are less calls and more messages.

·        How a general class journey changed to flight journey but why there are fewer vacations for enjoyment.

·        How an assembled desktop changed to branded laptop but then why there is less time to put it on.

·        How a small bunch of friends changed to office mate but then why we feel lonely and miss those college friends.

Here I am sitting in office at night thinking hard about life, how it changed ? how it changed ?

Stupid questions....

Stupid questions….

People usually ask….when the situation is obvious.

At a movie : when you meet friends / relatives
Stupid question : hey, what are you doing here ?
(don’t you know , I sell tickets in black here)

In a bus : A lady wearing pointed high-heeled shoes steps on your feet….
Stupid question : Sorry, did that hurt ??
(no, not at all. I’m on local anesthesia. Why don’t you try again)

At a funeral : one of the teary eyed people ask…
Stupid question  : why, why him, of all the people….
(why ? it would rather be you…)

At a restaurant : when people ask the waiter….
Stupid question: is the “paneer butter masala” dish good ?
( no , it’s terrible and made of adulterated material. We occasionally also spit on it….)

When your friend announces his wedding and people ask…
Stupid question: is the girl you are marrying good???
(no, she is miserable, husband basher, insensitive, just for money…..)

When you get woken up at midnight by a phone call….
Stupid question: sorry, were you sleeping.
(No, I was doing research on how to improve donkeys …)

When you have a haircut..
Stupid question: hey, did you have a hair cut ??
(no, its winter and I am shedding ….)

At a dentist when he is using pointed objects in your mouth.
Stupid question: tell me if it hurts?
(No it won’t. It will just bleed)

You are smoking a cigarette and a cute woman asks…
Stupid question: oh. So you smoke..
(It’s a miracle….it was a piece of chalk and now it’s in flames…..

The losing streak continues….

The losing streak continues….

India lost to Pakistan once again and in the process lost the one day series with the next match in Delhi only a formality and one more chance for india to make it 2-1. However considering the current performance of Indians, it will not be  a surprise if Pakistan make it 3-0.

Dhoni won the toss and elected to field ,and under overcast conditions, helpful to bowlers, we were not able to get a wicket till the half way stage….even in helpful conditions our bowlers were unable to exploit the conditions. Reasons given in Chennai was that Pakistan’s pace bowlers utilized the conditions well. So why not the Indians in Kolkatta yesterday ???. winning and losing is a part of sports, but the manner in which we are losing is shameful.

Team selection is the biggest concern and it was surprising to see Rahane not playing inspite of repeated failures from Sehwag & Gambhir.  Jadeja took 3 wickets, but by then the match was in Pakistan’s grasp. He did not contribute with the bat either. His selection defies logic.
There seems to be no pride in playing for the country. There is no fire in them to do well. They are completing match after match as though it’s a formality. Non performers must be shown the door and we must not take into account what  a player  has achieved in the past. Decisions must be taken on current form. Many of the team members have already been given a long rope.

Already, there is talk of preparing the team to defend the world cup. If we continue with the current team, we may not even go to the second round of the world cup. Our team has fared miserably is the last one year…..selectors please wake up…..there are lots of talented youngsters waiting to make their mark. Please provide them the opportunity.

Same joke....

Same joke…

A comedian cracked a joke and everybody laughed like crazy. After a moment he cracked the same joke again. This time less people laughed. Again he cracked the same joke the third time and nobody laughed. The comedian laughed and said that you will not laugh again and again at the same joke...
….but why do you get angry or cry or get upset again and again over the same unpleasant event or words or behavior of someone known to you….

Thank those…..

Thank those…..

Thank those who hated you; they made you a stronger person.

Thank those who loved you; they made your heart bigger.

Thank those who worried about you; they let you know they actually cared.

Thank those who left you; they showed you everything doesn't lasts.

Thank those who entered your life; they made you what you are today….

Bowling – India’s biggest concern.

Bowling – India’s biggest concern.

Bowling has been the biggest concern for India. We lose matches which we should have won easily due to poor bowling. Whether it is tests or the limited over games, we do not have bowlers who can take 20 wickets in tests or contain the batsmen in the limited over format. There have been some occasional top performances, but there is no consistency.

Even on Indian pitches our spinners are unable to trouble the opposition batsmen and it has been the opposite in the last 2 series. The spinners of the touring teams have performed much better than the Indians.
Our neighbor, Pakistan has been able to get good bowlers regularly and  all have the capability to win  matches on their own.

Time for serious focus towards the bowling department.

Nobody succeeds all the time….

Nobody succeeds all the time….

Nobody is destined to remain a failure either.

Success is failure delayed and failure is success delayed.

Neither is failure final nor success permanent

Today’s success and failure are just another step in the long journey of life.

If you play this game long enough, you will make it.

Don’t quit midway. Play till the end.

Eventually, you will cross the finishing line…..

Trust & understanding....

Trust & Understanding….

After years of marriage, all married men say…..” our marriage is based on trust and understanding”

“she doesn't trust me and I don’t understand her”

Meaning of Congress---What a coincidence…..

Meaning of Congress---What a coincidence…..

Some wonderfully anthropomorphic collective nouns for the various group of animals….

We are all familiar with a herd of cows, a school of fish, a flock of sheep and a gaggle  of geese. However, less widely known is a pride of lions, a murder of crows, an exaltation of doves and a parliament of owls…
…..and what is the proper collective noun for a group of baboons ???.....a CONGRESS !!!

Love v/s marriage....

Love v/s Marriage….

Love is holding hands in the street, marriage is holding arguments in the street.

Love is cuddling on the sofa; marriage is one of them sleeping on the sofa.

Love is going to bed early; marriage is going to sleep early.

Love is losing appetite, marriage is losing figure.

Love is blind, marriage is an eye opener.

The ones who care....

The ones who care….

None of us will remember the headliners of yesterday. They are the best in their fields…..but the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their names… but you will always remember the names of few of your old teachers who aided your journey through school, names of a few friends who helped you through difficult times, few people who have thought you something worthwhile, a few people who made you feel special and appreciated and few people you enjoy spending time with…

The moral….
The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money or the most awards. The people who make the difference are the ones who care….

Sad day...

It’s a sad day with the death of the 23 year old girl who has been battling for her life….

The world’s largest democracy, India has the distinction where rape is committed every few minutes. More shameful is our capital Delhi which is called the rape capital of India.

The number of cases reported is the tip of the iceberg as many cases are not reported due to the social stigma associated with rape victims. Also, many cases are not reported as the culprits are known or influential people who are known to the family and any reporting will spoil family reputation. There is no concern shown towards the victim.

The agitation in Delhi must not stop (infact it must spread to all parts of the country if the govt does not react fast) and the media which has done a wonderful job till now must continue in the same vein. Laws must be changed fast and strict penalties, even capital punishment are a must if we do not want to see the Delhi type episode again.

Our country has so many powerful woman leaders- Sonia Gandhi, Sushma Swaraj ,Mayawati ,Jayalalitha and Mamata Banerjee….cant they forget their party and come as one to push for stricter laws to protect the women in India.

Ours is a country where we worship Goddess LAXMI, SARASWATI, KALI….. its time we changed our mindset towards women in the country.

Good win for India....

Good win for India….

Yuvraj Singh's quick 72 helped India clinch a nerve-wracking 11-run victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in the second T20 International to level the series 1-1 in Ahmedabad. Yuvraj's 36-ball knock saw the hosts post a competitive 192 and then restricted the rivals to 181 for seven.

Dhoni got his act right this time both in team selection and captaincy. Bringing back Ashwin and not bowling a spinner in the last over was good.

Both the matches were close and like any India –Pak match , there was immense pressure on the players to perform. The crowd got their moneys worth as both the matches went till the last over and it was anybody's game till then. It would have been better if it was a 3 match series.

The 50 over format starts on 30th and we can look forward to some great cricketing action in the coming days.

Enjoy the cricket….

Second T20 today....

Second T20 today….

Going by the current form, it appears that Pakistan will be favorites to win the second match.

Can Indian batting rise to the occasion…… only time will tell.

Enjoy the cricket…..
