Soft & Gentle are triumphant…..

Soft & Gentle are triumphant…..

When life begins…..
                                       We are tender and weak.
When life ends….
                                      We are stiff and rigid.

All things……the grass, the trees….

In life are soft and yielding….
In death are dry and brittle…..
So, the soft and supple are the companions of life…
While the stiff and unyielding are the companions of death.
A tree that cannot bend will crack in the wind.

Thus by nature’s own rule the hard and the strong are defeated while the soft and gentle are triumphant.

How to overcome problems in life….

How to overcome problems in life….

Coping successfully with the hardships, disappointments, troubles and tragedies of life is really the biggest problem for most people.

We talk of “taking the rough with the smooth”, yet there are many people who really seem to imagine that there ought to be no rough and who look at it bitterly when it comes. They act as though life owed to them to give success and happiness all the time. But this is incorrect.

There may be people who seem to get more than their fair share of it. But, trouble in some shape or form, at some time or other comes to all of us.
Remember that appearances can be misleading. Many people bear bravely a great burden which they manage successfully to hide and there are others with faces and tales of woe.

In working out our own personal philosophy of trouble, let us recognize that it is part of the very pattern of everybody’s life. None of us can escape. We are not alone or unfortunate in this respect.

Further, much as we may fight against the trials and troubles of life, they can play an important part in shaping our character and personality.
If we never experience trouble, how can we ever learn patience or courage or endurance? And if others never suffer, how can we develop sympathy, understanding and helpfulness for them ?

Troubles would seem to have not only an inescapable part but also a necessary part in our experience of life.

It is important to realize that while it is not within our power to determine what happens to us, it is in our power to determine how we will react to what happens to us.

Having formulated our outlook on the troubles which are liable to face us, we can then adopt practical steps which will help us in dealing with the situations as they arise. React to the problems with the will rather than emotion. This does not mean that emotion is to be avoided altogether. We will not be human if we do not experience feelings of sorrow or anxiety or fear. These are a part of the human set up. An unemotional person is often a very cold and unsympathetic one.

We must learn to keep our emotions under control.  We must not over react to situations. If we react, we would be prone to taking hasty decisions which would prove otherwise in the long run. Where decisions can be postponed, it is good to do so until calm and more rational view can be taken. Never take any decision when you are angry.

Instead of brooding over problems, think of practical ways to resolve them however small they may be. Being optimistic will save you from going to pieces when faced with testing times in life.

May you always have….

May you always have….

Enough happiness to keep you sweet,

Enough sorrow to keep you human,

Enough trials to keep you strong,

Enough hope to keep you happy,

Enough success to keep you eager,

Enough failure to keep you humble,

Enough friends to give you comfort,

Enough wealth to meet your needs,

Enough enthusiasm to look forward,

Enough faith to banish depression,

Enough determination to make each day better than yesterday !!!

India is getting united again….

India is getting united again….

After independence, we are now seeing once again a stronger united India. And that is good news. The developments in the last few months and how the nation has stood behind issues and possible solutions is an example that the nation is coming as one.

It all started with the anti corruption campaign which was led by Anna Hazare , Kejriwal and others. The entire country stood behind these people in the fight against corruption. The movement bought people from all walks of life on a single platform. The noticeable change was the coming of India’s youth in the struggle which was not the case in the past.

The second incident which bought the nation together was the Delhi gang rape case. The entire nation spoke one language of putting an end to the atrocities against women in our country. We can now expect fast track courts, stricter punishment, and more safety measures being taken to ensure more safety for women in India.

The third incident which bought the nation together was the beheading of our soldiers by Pakistan. There was a huge outcry against Pakistan and the way it was inducing terror on India. Seeing the entire nation voicing their concerns basis the facts, Pakistan has mellowed down at the LOC and has called for talks.

The three incidents highlight that no one can take India for granted, be it internal or external.

The government has to work for the people, the wrong doers will be punished by law & no country dare create any problem for us……….for they have to face a united India.

The dream of seeing a corrupt free nation, with respect to every Indian is not very far for this peace loving nation.

THE MEDIA HAS PLAYED THE MOST IMPORTANT ROLE IN BRINGING ABOUT THIS CHANGE !!! GREAT WORK !!!

Ego…..check if you have it.

Ego…..check if you have it.

Many of us have ego problem without even realizing it, thereby causing harm to others and to self.

Check the following…..

·       You never accept your faults.
·       You don’t want your best friend to be others best friend.
·       You don’t have best friends.
·       You feel jealous.
·       You raise your voice during arguments.
·       You don’t want others to interrupt when you speak.
·       You underestimate others knowingly or unknowingly.
·       You are angry on someone and you don’t let that person know about it.
·       If somebody scolds you, you get rude to your family members.
·       You blame others for your faults.
·       You don’t compromise.

If any 5 matches your character, you’ve got EGO. Try to avoid it.

Challenges…

Challenges…

Challenges in life come in 3 broad categories…. Easy, difficult and impossible.

Those who take on the easy have a safe but boring life.

Those who take on the difficult have a tough but satisfying life.

Those who take on the impossible are remembered….!!!

Which category do you fall….???

Over work will kill…

Over work will kill…

A stressful job coupled with bad lifestyle is a recipe for a host of chronic ailments.
We no longer work to live, we live to work. Even after the computers and office are shut, our minds and blackberries refuse to stop. Call it ambition, insecurity or any other term, the fact remains that overwork is killing us.

The line between work and rest has blurred, courtesy the invasion of mobile phones and laptops. We no longer have the luxury of a nine to  six  job. We cannot afford to switch off our mobiles. Work has become life. And that is nothing to be proud of. Very few people acknowledge the problem. Staying back after office hours has become a norm. The few who leave on time are work – shirkers, that’s the perception. Being ambitious is good, but it’s going too far at the cost of your health. People in their 30s and 40s are the major ones suffering from lifestyle ailments and work culture is the common culprit. Irritability, anxiety, depression & alcoholism are signs that the situation is getting out of hand. Without realizing it, we continue the self destructive journey. What is missing is a sense of balance. Work is important but so is rest. If there is a mismatch, stress is inevitable.

A demanding job may leave you with very little time, but it is important to take time out to de-stress. Also, do not take work home and do not work on holidays. Time spent with family and friends goes a long way in de-stressing.

Work is important and can contribute to physical and mental well being, but not if people don’t have the time to look after their own health. Over work doesn’t make you productive, in fact it makes you less productive. Burnout happens fast when people are asked to work in ways that obstructs all other parts of their lives. Maybe it is prudent to enjoy leisure time and ensure that what nourishes us , doesn’t destroy us.

Don’t pay for anything with your health…………it’s not worth it.

Words….

Words….

Some words heal and some words hurt.

Some cause sorrow and some cause mirth.

Some words harsh bring grief and tears.

Some words soothe troublesome fears.

Some words kill and some give life.

Some hit us hard as steel tipped knife.

Some bring hope to sinking heart.

Some cause husband and wife apart.

Harsh words come from a thoughtless mind.

Sweet words belong to a heart that is kind.

So are you, open not your mouth in haste

Think well each word, speak well in taste.

Strange world.

Strange  world.

We are living in a strange world….

If you throw an occasional party you are trying to keep up with appearances. If your neighbor does so, he is showing off his wealth.

If you study till midnight, you are trying to enrich your knowledge. If your neighbor does so, he is called a book worm.

If your sister plays a musical instrument, she is a boon to the music world. If your neighbor’s sister does so, she is a nuisance to others sleeping.

If your father gets promoted, it is due to hard work and the promotion was long overdue. If your neighbor’s father gets promoted, it is due to constant flattery.

Yes !!! the world we live in is really turned upside down.

Convincing  win for India…

Indian’s back to winning ways... They came up with a brilliant display to beat England by 127 runs in the second One-Day International, in Kochi, on Tuesday.

The hosts first posted a competitive 285, riding on captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's 72 and Ravindra Jadeja's 61, before the bowlers skittled out the visitors for a paltry 158 in just 36 overs to level the five-match series 1-1.

It was a convincing and morale-boosting victory for the Indians, who have struggled of late even in home conditions, losing the ODI series against arch-rivals Pakistan and the England Test series.

The biggest worry for the Indians is the continuous failure of the opening pair and the out of form Kohli. Good to see Jadeja doing well after the numerous opportunities given to him. Hope is continues with this form throughout the series.

Next match at Dhoni’s home town Ranchi- India must be favorites , given the performance from the Indian team today.

Cicero’s philosophy.

Cicero’s philosophy.

Cicero’s philosophy is valid even today across the globe….

1.    The poor                : work and work
2.    The rich                  :exploit the poor
3.    The soldier            : protects both
4.    The taxpayer        : pays for all three
5.    The wanderer       : rests for all four
6.    The drunk              : drinks for all five
7.    The banker            : robs all six
8.    The lawyer            : misleads all seven
9.    The doctor            : kills all eight
10.                      The undertaker    : buries all nine
11.                      The politician       : lives happily on account of all ten.

This is the truth even today across the world.

Learn from Dale Styen…..

Learn from Dale Styen…..

The attitude displayed by South Africa’s Dale Styen is worth emulating……

He is very aggressive.

He does not allow the batsmen to dominate him.

There are no warm up balls. He is bang on target from the first ball with great pace.

He is looking for a wicket with every ball.

He stares at fielders who do not give their 100%

There is fire in him to perform always….and it is visible.

No wonder South Africa is at the number 1 spot in test cricket.

There is no harm is copying good practices…..can we see an Indian doing that.

Virat Kohli must be rested ….

Virat Kohli must be rested ….

Virat Kolhi is a great player and he had a great run last year. However, on current form he must be dropped atleast for the match at Kochi. Many players have taken their place in the side for granted and the selectors have started acting only now on non performers, though not on a large scale.

The news that he must be made india’s next captain has made him overconfident and is shown in his performance of late. Making him sit out will provide chance to players (pujara) who have been performing.

Indian selectors have to take clues from Australia & South Africa, who do not go by the players past records but only on current form. The dropping of Michael Hussey from the ODI series is a recent example.

Dropping Virat Kohli for one match will do a world of good to him…….and of course Indian cricket.

Selectors / Captain, please take the decision and……..kardo sab ki bolti band !!!
