It appears that Indian team selectors do not have the guts to take bold decisions. How can a team struggling for the last one year continue without being changed. The selectors have taken only one bold decision in omitting Sehwag. It would be unfair to Sehwag, as many in the team have performed badly but are retained. Gambhir has been a poor performer of late. Why has he been retained.  Rohit Sharma did not play in the last 2 matches but is retained. Why ???  Jadeja has not been performing and has not won a single match for india  till date on his own. This bits and pieces player does not deserve to be in the side.

Continuing with Dhoni as a captain is the biggest mistake . Why has he been retained as captain after a series of failures. Surely there is someone protecting him ….???

Why did the selectors not bring in youngsters from the victorious under 19 team. When will they get a chance ?? if not now ,then when ??? why was Rayadu or Robin Uthappa  not considered inspite of performing in the domestic matches.

It clearly appears that vested interests are playing a big part in the team selection. The results of such unfair team selection will be visible to the entire world after the first three matches against England.

By that time Indian cricket would have been a big loser….

Current Indian cricketers lack technique…..

Call it a craze for the T20  format or any other word…..but the skill of every player is tested in the longer version of the game and most of the current Indian team lack it. In the recent past we had quality players like Dravid, Laxman, Tendulkar…..or in the distant past players like Gavaskar, Vishwanath, Vengsarkar, Mohinder Amarnath….to name a few. It was a pleasure watching these cricketers bat . These players excelled not only in india but also abroad. It was because they had sound technique to adapt to any conditions.

The situation is totally different with the current Indian team. They lack technique. Some of the shots played would make Geffory Boycott hang his head in shame. If the current Indian team tours any country now, the test matches will end in 3-4 days only with india losing very badly. That’s the quality of players we have at present. We are struggling even at home and conditions that suit us.The board / selection panel has to be blamed for the rut we are in today.

Faulty selection and IPL are the causes for the downfall of Indian cricket. Its not there is no talent in the country. We need to give the opportunity to players of merit rather than having the quota system in selection. The team selection needs to be given to former players and no politician must be allowed to govern any cricket board.

Few harsh measures are required to put Indian cricket back on track.

You can consider yourself fortunate if you have watched the copy book style of Geoffory Boycott, the grace of Sunil Gavaskar, the elegance of Dilip Vengsarkar, the stylish David Gower, the square cut of Vishwanath……

Here I am sitting in my office at night thinking hard about life…. How it changed from college life to strict professional life.

·        How tiny pocket money changed to big fat monthly pay cheques, but then why it gives less happiness.

·        How  few local jeans changed to new branded wardrobe but there is less time to use them.

·        How a single plate idli changed to a full pizza or how a bike always in reserve changed to a 4 wheeler but then why are there less places to go.

·        How a small tea shop changed to café coffee day but then why does it feel that the shop is far away.

·        How a limited prepaid card changed to unlimited post paid connection but then why there are less calls and more messages.

·        How a general class journey changed to flight journey but why there are fewer vacations for enjoyment.

·        How an assembled desktop changed to branded laptop but then why there is less time to put it on.

·        How a small bunch of friends changed to office mate but then why we feel lonely and miss those college friends.

Here I am sitting in office at night thinking hard about life, how it changed ? how it changed ?

India lost to Pakistan once again and in the process lost the one day series with the next match in Delhi only a formality and one more chance for india to make it 2-1. However considering the current performance of Indians, it will not be  a surprise if Pakistan make it 3-0.

Dhoni won the toss and elected to field ,and under overcast conditions, helpful to bowlers, we were not able to get a wicket till the half way stage….even in helpful conditions our bowlers were unable to exploit the conditions. Reasons given in Chennai was that Pakistan’s pace bowlers utilized the conditions well. So why not the Indians in Kolkatta yesterday ???. winning and losing is a part of sports, but the manner in which we are losing is shameful.

Team selection is the biggest concern and it was surprising to see Rahane not playing inspite of repeated failures from Sehwag & Gambhir.  Jadeja took 3 wickets, but by then the match was in Pakistan’s grasp. He did not contribute with the bat either. His selection defies logic.

There seems to be no pride in playing for the country. There is no fire in them to do well. They are completing match after match as though it’s a formality. Non performers must be shown the door and we must not take into account what  a player  has achieved in the past. Decisions must be taken on current form. Many of the team members have already been given a long rope.

Already, there is talk of preparing the team to defend the world cup. If we continue with the current team, we may not even go to the second round of the world cup. Our team has fared miserably is the last one year…..selectors please wake up…..there are lots of talented youngsters waiting to make their mark. Please provide them the opportunity.

Bowling has been the biggest concern for India. We lose matches which we should have won easily due to poor bowling. Whether it is tests or the limited over games, we do not have bowlers who can take 20 wickets in tests or contain the batsmen in the limited over format. There have been some occasional top performances, but there is no consistency.

Even on Indian pitches our spinners are unable to trouble the opposition batsmen and it has been the opposite in the last 2 series. The spinners of the touring teams have performed much better than the Indians.

Our neighbor, Pakistan has been able to get good bowlers regularly and  all have the capability to win  matches on their own.

Time for serious focus towards the bowling department.
